THE MAKING OF A PIECE

THE MATERIALS
Individual pieces of glass are cut with simple scoring and breaker tools. Straight cuts are easy; curved cuts are a little more challenging

ASSEMBLY
The individual pieces of glass are then assembled into a pattern. This is the fun part! The sky is the limit on creativity

FIRST FIRING: FULL FUSE
The assembled piece is then fired in a kiln, in this case a full fuse to 1450 degrees F

SECOND FIRING: SLUMPING
In this case, after the full fuse, the piece was slumped inside a mold to create a three-dimensional shape. The final product: a sushi plate
